Help raise the resources needed to advance Christian ministry, community care and the Foundation’s strategic priorities.
The Scoffield and Margaret Eversley Foundation is a Christian community-based initiative established to honour over fifty years of faithful service by Rev. Dr. Scoffield Eversley and Rev. Dr. Margaret Eversley. Conceived by the leadership of the Church of the Nazarene Barbados District, the Foundation exists to engage and impact our internal and external communities through leadership development, education with an emphasis on moral and religious formation, and compassionate giving.
We believe the church is called to do more than gather. It is called to go, to serve, to teach and to lift. Our work is an expression of that calling. We seek to partner with Jesus in completing God's work through holistic ministries to all humanity (John 4:34-35), and we hold to our motto: Building a Strong Foundation for a Secure Future.
Everything we do is guided by a simple conviction: lasting change begins with people who are taught, encouraged and equipped, and it is sustained by communities that care for one another. We do not seek to replace the work of local churches or established ministries. We seek to strengthen it, walk alongside it and help it reach further.

These five priorities shape the initiatives we support, the partnerships we build and the resources we raise to advance the work. Together, they connect the life of the Church with practical service to communities across Barbados.
Extending Christian learning into communities across Barbados.
The Sunday School has long been one of the church's most effective tools for nurturing faith and character, and we want to see its reach extended. Many families and neighbourhoods are not within easy reach of a traditional church setting. Satellite Sunday Schools carry the teaching of the Word into those places, meeting people where they live.
Our role is to motivate and encourage the start of these ministries, working in collaboration with the Church of the Nazarene and other faith-based organisations. We would like to see them led by committed local volunteers, rooted in their own communities, and supported by the wider church family. Our hope is that children, young people and families come to know Christ and grow in sound moral and spiritual understanding, and that each satellite becomes a source of encouragement for the neighbourhood around it.

Supporting people facing hardship through organised community care.
The love of Christ is shown in practical ways. Compassionate Ministries Centres give the church a visible, dependable presence in the community, a place where those in need can find help, dignity and hope.
We encourage the start and, where centres already exist, the expansion of these ministries, again in partnership with the Church of the Nazarene and other faith-based organisations. We want to see centres that respond to genuine local needs, that treat every person with respect, and that are sustained by the goodwill of the communities they serve. Compassion, as we understand it, is not charity from a distance. It is neighbours caring for neighbours in the name of Jesus.

Equipping volunteers to carry Christian ministry into community settings.
Many men and women feel called to missionary outreach but lack the resources to answer that call well. Willingness is often there; support is not always.
The Foundation seeks to give technical, financial and personnel assistance to those who volunteer for missionary outreach initiatives. We would like to help them prepare, equip them for the task and stand with them as they serve. We are mindful that support is best given with wisdom and accountability, so that what is offered is used faithfully and helps the work bear lasting fruit.

Identifying potential and preparing people to serve.
Strong communities are built by strong, principled leaders. We want to encourage the development of leadership potential in the church and in the community, and to help people discover and grow the gifts God has placed in them.
Leadership is a responsibility to care for people, not simply a position to hold.
We see this as a work of mentoring, encouragement and example, drawing on the experience of those who have served faithfully for many years and passing it on to those who will carry the work forward. We want to nurture leaders marked by integrity, humility and a heart for service, in the church and beyond it, so that the next generation is well prepared to lead.

A life of service in church and community

Supporting the facilities that make ministry and community service possible.
Places matter. A sound building, a welcoming space and the right facilities can transform what a church or community group is able to do for the people around it.
The Foundation wishes to assist with infrastructural development in the church and the community, helping to provide and improve the spaces where ministry, learning and care take place. We would approach this work thoughtfully and prayerfully, giving priority to projects that serve the wider community and strengthen the ministries described above.

The Foundation’s priorities invite cooperation between the church and the wider community. We seek to work with churches, schools, faith-based organisations, community groups and other bodies whose contributions can help advance our charitable purposes.
Individuals and businesses also have a part to play. Financial contributions, support in kind and relevant expertise can help provide resources for the initiatives the Foundation seeks to support.
Our purpose is to bring these contributions together in service of the church and community, carrying forward the commitment to Christian ministry that inspires the Foundation.
